Unlike direct systems, suppression in an indirect system occurs through fixed nozzles after fire detection, ensuring uniform and effective coverage of the protected space.

This system is commonly used with clean agent gases (Novec 1230, FM-200, FE-36), CO, or inert gases. Fire detection is achieved through smoke detectors, heat detectors, flame detectors, or fire detection tube technology, which activates the cylinder valve and releases the agent through a piping and nozzle network into the hazard area.
